Joe Coombs
I was asked to create a website for canoe slalom athlete Joe Coombs, he wanted a globally accessable website which he could update, customise and manage easily, showcasing his videos, photos, sponsors and various news feeds as well as being able to integrate with social networking services.
The final outcome of this project has produced a website which includes:
- Blog
- RSS feeds and subscription
- Social media
- Sharing
- Twitter Feeds
- Images
- Gallery
- File Manager
- Global access
- Translation in page
- Customisations
- Key design colour changing
- Sponsors bar additions
The project is still ongoing and the site has been set up and is functioning well.
I set out to create a sporty modern look using bold typography and blocks of colour, I chose to use an electric blue as the key colour in the design as it complements the canoe colour and adds a delicately fresh sporty look, however the client's preferred colour was red so this was changed in the final design.
This is the final design mockup Joe chose from although the colours have now been changed for his preference.
Another potential site design with less of the header colour than the final. I have added three columns for content and a sponsors bar for the homepage only as this is the main display space and landing page.

This was the initial design I used to give an idea what I was thinking of making it look like. Joe liked this so I refined it further to include more information and utilities.
